Patient Education Seminars
The patient education seminars are an excellent method to communicate with interested prospective patients in a non-threatening environment.  The following are action steps to implement this program.
A.   Establish a seminar schedule that encompasses various cosmetic surgery procedure themes within a six-month time frame. This schedule will allow you to evaluate the results of the seminars and make any necessary adjustments to reflect demand for highly popular topics. By establishing a schedule, you can also minimize confusion with staff on promotional activities and place your media ads in advance.
B.    Monitor any concerns, complaints or trends regarding day of the week and/or times.
C.    Review pictures of past cosmetic patients to develop slide presentations for each seminar topic and to use in your “before and after” photo album.
D.    Ensure that signed statements permitting the doctor to use them in patient and physician education, accompany these and all pictures of patients.
E.     Identify several satisfied and motivated patients who would be willing to participate in the seminars.
F.     Develop announcements and mail them to all patients-of-record and referral sources (current and potential).
G.    Include the seminar schedule in your newsletter.
H.    Train/orient staff to assist in the seminar process and encourage their active participation.
I.     Secure video equipment to tape at least two seminars to be critiqued.
J.     Make plans for providing simple refreshments at seminars.
K.    Conduct a dress rehearsal in front of staff and send the tape of the dress rehearsal to Answers4Marketing for critique.
L.    At each seminar, distribute and collect evaluations.
M.   Follow up one week later with patients who attended but have not made an appointment for a consultation.
N.    Follow up the next day with those people who reserved but did not attend.
Add all attendees’ names to the patient mailing database.
